Air Circuit Breaker vs. Molded Case Circuit Breaker, What's the Difference?

ACB is designed for higher current ratings, higher than 630A, and correspondingly higher fault currents. The frame structure of this equipment is open and strong enough that the components are easy to maintain.

MCCB is encapsulated in plastic case, applicable current is lower than ACB, breaking capacity is also low, so if it is the main incoming line protection device, it is recommended to choose a higher function and configuration type air circuit breaker, if it is feeder and branch circuit protection, choose MCCB.

Can Air Circuit Breakers Be Used as Disconnectors?

One word: yes. Most of Ceho's ACB products are certified in the disconnected position to IEC 60947-2. They serve to provide safe isolation by allowing sufficient air gaps and visible breaks between shocks. In addition to confirming this specific certification, it is standard practice to use a dedicated lockable disconnector upstream, or add a safety lock and tag to the ACB.
